Metro expansion making great strides ...

Well, work on our Metro Center expansion has progressed a lot since our last update! We will be working in the coming weeks and months to bring you more frequent updates about the Metro expansion projects as well as other QTS facility expansions or enhancements as they are announced.

Over the last two months, the Metro project has really started to take shape. Both pods now look like rooms, with fire and moisture barriers applied and drywall up on all exterior walls. Disruptions have been very minimal and we’re sure you’ll agree; the end result will be worth the minor hassles!

We’ve also made several upgrades to the water, electrical, and safety systems, as well as relocating power generators and ancillary power equipment to make cooling and power supplies more easily available to the new pods. New generator pads have also been added, as well as new fire sprinkler valves, to support planned backup systems and be in compliance with current construction fire safety codes.

The raised floor has also been installed since we last updated you. This, of course, is a critical undertaking, as the raised floor is one of the most important physical aspects of any data center.

The new pods are now ready for interior work, such as completion of interior columns and cross-braces that will support the enormous weight of critical data center equipment. Only the best here – we, along with our construction sub-contractors, are working hard to ensure the safest possible environment for your mission-critical infrastructure. As you can see below, the space looks entirely different than it did just a few short months ago.

In the coming weeks, we look forward to updating you on advances in power to be able to bring customers some of the industry’s highest power densities available today.

Until next time …
